5inch Wood Circular Saw Blade For Miter Saw

5inch Wood Circular Saw Blade For Miter Saw

Shin Sho 2 in 125mm cuts a 1.0mm slot with a 0.6mm plate. A standard 125mm wood blade carries a 1.0mm plate and a kerf to match, so every pass turns noticeably more wood into sawdust and asks more of the motor. Going thin is easy; keeping a thin plate flat at 10,000 RPM is the hard part. This body is roll-tensioned before the teeth go on, which is why it holds a straight line under heat instead of walking sideways.

Thin plates warp. This one is pre-stressed so it won't.

Reduce a saw plate from 1.0mm to 0.6mm and you remove about 40% of the steel that normally resists bending. Spin that plate at 10,000 RPM, add the heat that builds up in a long rip cut, and an untreated thin body starts to dish. You see it as a wobbling tooth line, a cut that drifts off the pencil mark, and burn marks on one face of the board.

Roll tensioning is how we get around that. Before brazing, each plate runs through a pair of rollers that press a ring into the body partway between bore and rim. That ring puts the center zone under compression and the rim under tension. When the rim heats up during cutting and tries to expand, the stored stress absorbs the expansion instead of letting the plate buckle. In practice the blade runs at working temperature with the same flatness it had on the bench.

Result: a 0.6mm plate that behaves like a thicker one where it matters. No side-to-side flutter, no stepped cut face, and burrs on the exit edge stay small enough that most parts skip the sanding station.

Compared with other Shin Sho sizes: 100mm (1.1/0.7), 147mm (1.1/0.7) and 190mm (1.2/0.8). The 125mm is currently the narrowest kerf in the series.

What a 1.0mm kerf/0.6mm Plate actually saves

06mm800x553

Narrow kerf is often sold as a comfort feature. On a production bench it is a cost line.

Material. Every cut removes a strip of wood exactly as wide as the kerf. Cutting a 1.0mm slot instead of a wider one leaves more of each board as usable stock. Over a day of ripping veneered panel or pine strip, the difference shows up in the offcut bin.

Power draw. The motor has to accelerate a smaller volume of chips and push the plate through less side friction. On a corded saw that reads as a lower current under load. On a cordless saw it reads as more cuts per charge, and the tool stays cooler through a long run.

Feed rate. Lower cutting resistance means the operator can push faster at the same motor speed without the saw bogging down. For repetitive crosscuts on a stop block, that is the difference between keeping pace with the line and holding it up.Edge finish. The 40 BA5 teeth take a small bite each, and the tensioned plate keeps those teeth running in one plane. The cut face comes out square with light tool marks only, and the exit edge on plywood shows little fibre pull-out.

Fits these saws

The 125mm diameter with a 20mm bore drops into most 5" cordless circular saws and the smaller plunge/track saws used for sheet goods. It is a natural upgrade for crews running 18V platforms where battery life is the limiting factor, and for cabinet shops that cut a lot of thin panel on a mini track saw.

Keep the blade within its rated 10,000 RPM. Most 125mm saws spin between 4,000 and 6,000 RPM, so there is headroom, but it is not meant for angle grinders or any tool without a blade guard and a fixed arbor.

What it cuts, and what it should not

This blade is built around low-density and engineered wood. The 0.6mm plate and 40-tooth count are matched to materials that cut with modest resistance, where the thin kerf pays back in speed and power without stressing the body.

Good Fit

Softwood such as pine, spruce, fir and cedar, in board or strip form. Plywood and veneered panel up to the saw's depth of cut, including thin 3 to 5mm sheet that chips with coarser blades. MDF and HDF, particleboard, melamine-faced board, OSB, laminated and finger-jointed softwood.

Not For Hardwood

Oak, beech, maple, ash, walnut and tropical species push back hard on the teeth. On a 0.6mm plate that extra load builds heat faster than the tensioning can absorb, the body loses flatness, and the cut starts to wander. The teeth also take more side pressure in dense grain, which shortens carbide life. For hardwood, use the thicker-plate sizes in the Shin Sho range or a conventional 1.6mm kerf blade with a 0.8mm or 1.0mm body.

Also Keep Away From

reclaimed timber with nails or screws, pressure-treated lumber with embedded grit, and any cut where the saw shoe cannot sit flat on the stock. A 1.0mm kerf plate rewards steady feed and clean material; it does not forgive knocks.

OEM/ODM Service

Most of what leaves our plant is not the catalogue spec. A distributor in Poland wants the same 125mm body with a 22.23mm bore for the grinders his customers already own. A tool brand in Japan wants 36 teeth instead of 40, a slightly steeper hook, and the plate finished in their house colour. Both orders run on the same line as this blade, because the plate is laser cut from a file, not stamped from a die, and the teeth are ground to a programme, not a fixed jig.

So the honest answer to "can you change it" is usually yes. Diameter, bore, tooth count, grind angle, kerf, plate thickness, slot pattern, coating colour, the mark on the body, the box it ships in. What we do not do is guess: send the saw model or a sample of the material, we send back a drawing and a sample blade, you cut with it, then we build the batch. First sample in about oen week for a standard variant; new tooth geometry takes longer because it goes through the R&D bench first.

Factory Show

Shin Sho 2 blades are laser cut, tensioned, brazed and ground in our own Zhejiang plant. Every plate is flatness-checked after tensioning and again after grinding; blades that fall outside tolerance do not get teeth. Private label laser marking and branded cartons are available with trademark authorization.

FAQ

Q: Is the 0.6mm plate the same as the 125mm wood cutting disc blade already on your site?

A: Same plate thickness, different blade. That one runs a 1.2mm kerf with an anti-kickback tooth back for hand-held safety. This one runs a 1.0mm kerf with a standard BA5 grind and is tuned for cutting efficiency on circular saws and track saws.

Q: What does "roll-tensioned" mean for me as a buyer?

A: The plate has a pre-stressed ring pressed into it before brazing. It is what lets a 0.6mm body stay flat when it heats up at speed. Without it a plate this thin would flutter and leave a wavy cut.

Q: Can I run it on an angle grinder with a 22.23mm adapter?

A: No. The blade is rated for 10,000 RPM on saws with a guard and fixed arbor. Angle grinders exceed that speed and have no depth control.

Q: Can I use it on oak or beech if I feed slowly?

A: We advise against it. Slow feed reduces the load per tooth but not the heat that dense grain puts into a 0.6mm plate. Once the body loses flatness the cut quality drops and the blade can bind. Pick a thicker-plate blade for hardwood and keep this one for softwood and sheet material.

Q: Does it come in other bores or tooth counts?

A: Yes. 20mm is standard; other bores, a 30T or 60T count, and your own logo can be quoted from 500 pieces.
