Multipurpose Saw Blade
A blade specified for timber will get you through timber. Renovation and fit-out work does not stay in one material: old stock with finish nails and screws still in it, then a length of aluminium trim, then MDF and laminate. Changing the blade for each of those costs more time than most jobs allow.
Multipurpose blades exist for that kind of work, and it is what we build. Our range runs 125mm to 190mm - TCT tips on 65Mn spring steel bodies, ground ATB and ATB(BC), Teflon coating optional. Nakamura runs its own laser cutting, heat treatment, automatic tip brazing and CNC grinding, so tooth count, kerf and coating are decisions we make on our own line instead of passing them up a supply chain.
Most of our output goes to power tool brands as OEM in-box blades and to distributors under private label, with direct supply to contractors. What we will not tell you is that one blade cuts everything. Stainless, cast iron and fibre cement will take the tips off any multipurpose blade, and the table below sets out where ours work and where you should be buying something else.

Multipurpose Saw Blade Applications: What It Can and Cannot Cut
Where the limit sits comes down to what happens at the tip. Carbide is hard but brittle, so it survives the shock of hitting a nail and fails against sustained load. Stainless work-hardens ahead of the tooth and holds heat in the cut; fibre cement is abrasive enough to round a cutting edge within a few metres. Neither of those is a cutting force the tip can absorb, and no tooth count or coating changes that.

Multipurpose Saw Blade Sizes: 125mm to 190mm Specification Chart
Check your arbor before ordering. This is the single most common cause of a wrong order we see. European and Asian saws normally take a 20mm bore; most North American 7-1/4" saws take a 5/8" bore. Our standard multipurpose range ships with a 20mm bore.

Tooth Geometry Explained: Why We Use ATB Grind for Multipurpose Blades

What ATB Does
ATB stands for Alternate Top Bevel. Teeth are bevelled left and right in turn, so each tooth acts like a knife slicing wood fibre rather than scraping it. That slicing action is what produces a clean, splinter-free edge - on plywood, veneer, laminate and finished timber, the difference against a flat-ground tooth is immediately visible on the cut face.
Because a multipurpose blade spends most of its working life in wood and wood-based panel, we grind for that reality first.

ATB(BC) for Mixed Material
Most of our multipurpose range is ground ATB(BC) rather than plain ATB. The bevel is reinforced at the tip so the tooth keeps the slicing geometry of ATB while carrying more support behind the cutting edge. That is what allows the same blade to survive nail-embedded timber, laminate and light aluminium instead of being limited to clean stock.
This is the core engineering compromise in any multipurpose blade: a thinner bevel cuts cleaner but chips sooner. ATB(BC) is where we set that balance.

How This Compares to TCG
You will see TCG (Triple Chip Grind) offered elsewhere in the multi-material category. TCG alternates a chamfered trapezoidal tooth with a flat raker, spreading impact load across two tooth forms. It is a legitimate approach - it trades cut-face quality for impact tolerance, and it is the standard grind for heavy aluminium and steel work.
We do not supply TCG on this range. If your application is dominated by aluminium extrusion or steel section rather than wood, the honest answer is that a dedicated blade will serve you better than any multipurpose blade:

Our Manufacturing Process: Building High-Quality Multipurpose TCT Blades

We use micro-grain tungsten carbide tips. Tips are laser welded by fully automatic machinery, so weld strength and tip seating stay consistent across every tooth on the blade and across every blade in the batch.

Blade bodies are laser cut from 65Mn spring steel, then heat treated to HRC 42-44 and tensioned. Laser cutting holds the plate dimension and bore concentricity, which is what keeps runout low once the blade is up to speed.

Laser-cut expansion slots are filled with resin. The resin damps vibration travelling through the plate, which cuts running noise and reduces the wobble and twist that shows up as a wandering cut line. More on this in saw blade noise reduction technology.

Teflon coating resists heat, corrosion and abrasion, and - more practically - stops resin, plastic melt and aluminium from sticking to the plate. Less build-up means less friction, less heat and a cleaner kerf. We can match the coating colour to your sample for OEM programs.

Every blade is checked for flatness and runout before it leaves the line. Blade balance directly affects cut quality and tool bearing life - we explain the mechanism in how blade balance affects operation.
Who We Supply: Wholesale, OEM & ODM Solutions for Tool Brands

Power Tool Brands (OEM / In-Box Blades
Blades shipped in the box with a saw have to be consistent - every unit, every batch. We run automatic brazing and inline inspection for exactly this reason, and we handle laser marking, custom colour coating and retail-ready packaging.

Hardware Distributors and Private Label
Mixed-size bulk orders, blister and colour box packaging, barcodes and your own brand marking. If you are building a private label range, we can supply a full size ladder from one factory rather than you sourcing each diameter separately.

Contractors: Renovation, Doors and Windows
Renovation work means unknown material: old timber with nails, screws, staples and the occasional bracket. This is what the reinforced ATB(BC) grind is for - it keeps a clean cut face on finished timber while tolerating the hidden metal that renovation stock is full of. The cost of one damaged blade is far lower than the downtime of a blade change mid-job.

Workshop and Volume Cutting
For repetitive cutting of one material, a dedicated blade will always outlast a multipurpose one. We would rather sell you the correct dedicated blade for your main material and a multipurpose blade for everything else.
Why Choose Our Saw Blade Factory as Your Trusted Supplier
- We are the manufacturer. Laser cutting, heat treatment, automatic laser welding and CNC grinding all run in-house, so specification changes do not have to travel through a trading company.

- OEM and ODM. Laser marking, custom coating colour, colour box, blister pack, barcode, and full private label programs.
- Production capacity: 200,000 pcs / month (Powered by fully automatic CNC grinding lines and high-precision laser cutting equipment). Certifications: ISO 9001:2015, CE, BSCI. Sampling: 7–10 days. Lead time: 30–45 days for mass production. MOQ: 100 pcs per specification.

Multipurpose Saw Blade FAQs
Can a multipurpose saw blade really cut both wood and metal?
Yes, within limits. Our multipurpose blades cut wood, nail-embedded timber, plastic, aluminium and thin-wall mild steel. They are not built for stainless steel, cast iron or hardened steel - use a dedicated cold cut metal blade for those.
What tooth geometry do your multipurpose blades use?
Most are ATB(BC). The alternate bevel slices wood fibre for a clean cut face, and the reinforced bevel form gives the tooth enough support behind the edge to handle nail-embedded timber and light aluminium.
Can it cut wood with nails in it?
Yes, the reinforced ATB(BC) grind is specified for exactly this. Feed at a steady rate and do not force the blade when it contacts a nail.
How many teeth do I need?
Fewer teeth cut faster and clear chips better; more teeth give a finer finish and are the right choice for plastic and aluminium. Tell us the material and the machine and we will spec the tooth count with you.
Why is the blade coated?
PTFE coating stops resin, plastic melt and aluminium from building up on the plate. Less build-up means less friction and heat, which extends edge life and keeps the kerf clean.
Do you accept OEM logo and custom packaging?
Yes. Laser marking, custom coating colour, colour box, blister pack and barcode are all standard OEM services.
Can I mix different sizes in one order?
Yes. Mixed-size bulk orders are standard for us, which is useful if you are stocking a full size range under one brand.
How should saw blades be stored?
Keep them in the original packaging in a dry area. Teflon coating resists corrosion but does not make the steel body rust-proof in humid storage.
Safety Guidelines for Operating Multipurpose Circular Saws
Clamp the workpiece and make sure the profile is positioned to meet the blade in the correct direction. Never apply side pressure and never attempt curved cuts with a circular blade.
Enter the cut steadily. Feeding in too fast at the start or stop of a cut is the main cause of broken teeth.
Stop immediately if you hear abnormal noise, feel unusual vibration, see a rough cut face or smell burning. Find the fault before restarting.
Keep chip grooves and extraction clear. Packed slag affects both cut quality and safety.
Avoid continuous long-duration cutting without letting the blade cool.

Maintenance Guide: 7 Signs Your Multipurpose Blade Needs Replacing

1. Dull or chipped teeth - visible wear, chips or rounded bevel tips.
2. Burn marks on the cut face - the blade is rubbing instead of cutting.
3. Increased resistance - you have to push harder for the same cut.
4. Splintering or tear-out - especially visible on plywood and laminate.
5. Uneven or wandering cuts - often plate warping rather than tooth wear.
6. Excessive vibration or noise - treat this as a safety issue, not a nuisance.
7. Slower cutting speed - the same cut taking noticeably longer.
